The way I use social media is strange to the average person. Most people display their entire day and lives online. Being a relatively private person, I have chosen to not take that route.
I have a very large family. Literally hundreds of relatives. Being able to talk to them long-distance and see how they’re all doing is great! But I also have social media boundaries that I’ve learned not many people have.

For example, I don’t post my children online. I’ve never posted my child’s face online or on any social media story. I feel like that’s an invasion of privacy. Many parents post their family every day. I’ve seen some that exploit their children on various social media platforms and that doesn’t sit right with me. I have beautiful photos of my children but would rather print and frame them and put them around my home. I’ve also printed hundreds of photos to make photo albums to gift to the grandparents. I try to take photos at every family gathering so I can do this at the end of the year – or at least hand out a few framed ones that don’t consist of blurry toddler faces.

Another thing people find weird about my social media habits is that I don’t post anything personal. No one knows if I had a disagreement with my significant other. Very few people know that I was recently in a car accident and went to the hospital for x-rays. I guess I don’t feel the need for validation or attention like some do. I don’t like people in my business and asking questions. I feel that if someone is interested in my life and actually cares about me and my family, they’ll reach out and send a message. I’ve tried messaging some with very short or no responses. The ones I’m close to know how much I love them and we talk on a weekly basis. I have to say that I do share funny kid’s quotes from time to time. My son told me once that he “loves me more than a big ole lawn mower.”

Now, isn’t that just the sweetest!

So I guess what I’m trying to say is, I use social media for memes and funny cat videos.
