Most Memorable Vacation

I’m not one that goes on vacation a lot. About eight years ago, I went to the beach with my husband and in-laws. When we got there, I went up to the second floor to our room and was exhausted. The heat and humidity was extreme and I was having a hard time breathing. The next day on the beach, I drank more water than I ever had and the constant urge to use the restroom was ruining the trip. One night while we were waiting for our food to be brought to us at a restaurant, my blood sugar was dropping and I ate my food and half of my husband’s. When we got back to the room, I was still hungry and ate some of the food we brought for snacks. I was miserable and over-heated the entire trip.

The day after we made it home, I was relaxing on the couch and noticed a familiar cramp in my abdomen and headed to the doctor for a UTI test and get antibiotics. I turned in my sample and they informed me that I did NOT have a UTI but they wanted to do a pregnancy test. I laughed at the nurse and told her I was told I couldn’t have babies. Moments later, the doctor came in and said, “You’re pregnant!” I immediately started crying tears of joy and made it clear that I wasn’t upset.

Looking back, it made sense as to why I was resting my hands on my knees after walking up one flight of stairs was peeing, literally, every thirty minutes the five days at the beach. Apparently, my mother-in-law kept telling her son that I was pregnant and was it a surprise we were waiting to tell her. But no. No one had a clue and it was the last thing we were expecting.
